The Sudden Friends of Charlie Hebdo

Unity-Rally-Paris

By: Brent Parrish

I flipped on the news for a bit on Sunday and saw the huge crowds gathered in Paris. Naturally, it was an impressive sight. From the reports I’ve read, nearly one million people showed up in Paris in apparent unity against “radical Islam” following the bloody murder  of 12 cartoonists at the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo by two AK-47-wielding,  Islamic terrorists.

Fox News commentator Chris Wallace offered a rather dour assessment of the whole affair on Sunday during an interview with the Fox & Friends Saturday crew. According to Wallace, “the peace rally in Paris won’t really mean anything at all, at the end of the day.”

Is Chris Wallace right? Does he have a point?

On one hand, I do think Wallace has a point. It wouldn’t be the first time a whole bunch of people gathered together in the West and sang Kumbaya!, only to have things simply return to the way they were when all the “goodwill,” “solidarity” and “unity” has dissipated.

But, on the other hand, if Mr. Wallace believes that nothing has changed, or will ever change, I must admit, I would find such a conclusion more than a bit cynical.

For example, in Germany there have been numerous rallies in numerous cities protesting the “Islamization of Germany” as of late. The PEGIDA movement in Germany is only growing in numbers. PEGIDA stands for “Patriotische Europaer gegen Islamisierung des  Abendlandes,” which translates to “Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West.” Many of the German PEGIDA protests have largely gone unreported in the American press. And the European press has attempted to savage the movement by painting the participants as “Nazis,” “fascists,” “ultra nationalists,” “right-wing extremists,” etc.—you know, the standard leftist fare. Germany’s leader, Angela Merkel, has been quite critical of the PEGIDA Movement. Of course, not all agree, like the German Jew whose compelling rant in English against PEGIDA’s detractors, including Angela Merkel, went a bit viral (see here).

PEGIDA demonstrators carry a banner reading, “Non-violent and United Against Religious Wars on German Soil.”

The encouraging sign regarding the rally in Paris, at least to me, is the fact that people are finally calling out “radical Islam.” I was pretty clear this week in the Watcher’s Council Forum about my views concerning the West’s suicidal reluctance to even so much as examine the role Muhammadanism plays in terrorism in general. I don’t know how anyone in their right mind can deny the role Muhammadanism played in the recent terrorist attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo, considering the terrorists shouted “Allah U’ Akbar!” as they committed their barbarous murders in vengeance for slandering the “prophet of Islam.” And it has nothing to do with Islam? Please.

Unity-Rally-Paris-2

Obviously the demonstrations in Paris motivated many Western leaders to make an obligatory appearance at the million-strong rally. Some Western leaders looked about as comfortable as goldfish who just jumped out of the fishbowl. Let’s face it, leaders like Angela Merkel, and numerous other EU leaders, have been highly critical and derogatory of any rhetoric smacking of disdain for the Euro-Union’s version of “multiculturalism.” And don’t even dare mention “Islam,” or EuroPol just might show up and charge you with racism or xenophobia, or both.

There are some clear lines being drawn here. The growing number of citizens from the respective populations of nations like France, Germany, Britain, etc., are becoming fed up with “radical Islam,” and the massive influx of large populations of people who utterly refuse to assimilate and respect the laws, customs and traditions of their adopted countries. I certainly don’t find such a position unreasonable; I find it quite logical and good.

This is where the globalists of the EU and the UN are starting to run smack dab up against Europeans who ultimately claim allegiance and deference to their own respective countries, not the European Union, per se. This is a huge conundrum for the EU leaders in Brussels and the busybodies at the UN. Patriotism is the enemy of “global governance.” Naturally, that doesn’t sit well with many Western leaders who suffer from a globalist-bent.

In order to mitigate the effects of any popular uprising that could potentially topple any of the sacred cows worshiped by the International Left, the media whores are quickly deployed to jack up attention to themselves, and their respective front groups, in order to seize the narrative—take back the language, so to speak.

It reminds me of how the Communist Party operates, quite frankly.

From my article “A World Conspiracy“:

The [communist] party concerns itself with the “morality of the people,” but only for the sake of expediency. The party makes it a point to be out front on any social ill or injustice. But strictly for the purpose of gaining control, and for gaining the ear of the people.

But don’t just take my word for it. During a demonstration in memory of those killed at Charlie Hebdo, CAIR spokesman Nihad Awad “hijacked” the press conference. It was a maneuver straight from Al Sharpton’s playbook. And it just shows how aggressive the media whores are about getting out their propaganda as quickly and as often as possible.

(By the way, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently declared the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR)  and the Muslim American Society (MAS) terrorist organizations. Furthermore, CAIR is listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land trial of 2008.)

“We vomit” on Charlie Hebdo’s sudden friends, a staff cartoonist at Charlie Hebdo is recently quoted as saying.

The Malay Online reported:

“We have a lot of new friends, like the pope, Queen Elizabeth and (Russian President Vladimir) Putin. It really makes me laugh,” Bernard Holtrop, whose pen name is Willem, told the Dutch centre-left daily Volkskrant in an interview published today.

World-Leaders-Paris-2

One of the notable absences at the Paris rally was any high-level representation by the United States. President Obama allegedly spent part of Sunday watching NFL football, according to numerous news sources. Attorney General Eric Holder was reportedly present in Paris for an anti-terrorism summit. But he never attended the rally. I find the decision to have Eric Holder in Paris at the same time as the rally interesting. Is this Obama’s way of saying he merely sees the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo as mere “workplace violence”? So the president sends the top law-enforcement official of the land as his emissary?

I can’t really speak to the president’s motives as to why he decided that the U.S. should be  conspicuously absent from the whole affair in Paris on Sunday. But it has not escaped the notice of some that President Obama sent three representatives to the funeral of Michael Brown. Yet the president sends no U.S. dignitaries to Paris? I also find that interesting.

Is Barack Obama trying create the allusion he’s just above it all? Or perhaps it is some sort of power trip—meaning: sometimes more attention is focused on the one not present than the ones who are. Or perhaps the president doesn’t ever want to align himself with anyone who would ever dare question Islam’s role in terrorism? I mean,  he did say “the future does not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.

Just asking.
