According to coloradopeakpolitics.com, the governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper is wavering on a proposed magazine capacity limit that is making its way through the Colorado state legislature.
Since magazine giant Magpul, which is currently operating in CO, has announced they will pack up their operations, move across state lines and take hundreds (possibly thousands) of jobs with them and since there has been a huge national fallout over comments made by Democratic lawmaker Joe Salazar regarding women with guns and rape (see video below), the governor is apparently considering not supporting new gun control bills.
According to Colorado Public Radio, [Feb. 20, 2013] Governor John Hickenlooper says he’s still weighing whether to support a Democratic bill limiting ammunition magazine size.
“We haven’t taken a specific position on that bill yet,” said the governor after moderating a forum on gun police Tuesday night, “but I from time to time have said contradictory things on it.”
When asked about his support for the bill last week, the governor said a limit somewhere between 15 and 20 rounds “might make sense.”
It was thought by state Democratic lawmakers that they would have a slam dunk passing a slew of new gun regulations after the Aurora Theater shooting and the Sandy Hook shooting.
Now, as Colorado jobs are on the line and Democratic lawmakers continue to humiliate themselves (and their state) at a national level, it’s unsure if any new gun control laws will pass in CO. Which is fine by us.
