The White House has released a picture allegedly showing President Obama “skeet shooting” at Camp David—an activity he engages in “all the time.” Our dear skeeter is not afraid to be manhandled by a shotgun! Take that … all of you neocon wingnuts!
Interestingly, King Obama has issued a warning to anyone (i.e. enemies of the state) who might feel tempted to photoshop the image for their own diabolical and nefarious purposes:
“This official White House photograph is being made available only for publication by news organizations and/or for personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. The photograph may not be manipulated in any way and may not be used in commercial or political materials, advertisements, emails, products, promotions that in any way suggests approval or endorsement of the President, the First Family, or the White House.”
Is that right? Really? Really?
Hey DAWN_COYOTE … maybe while you’re sending people to check ‘boilerplate’ and ‘copyright’, you can go check out ‘Fair Use’ and ‘Satire’. If I choose to take that pic and photoshop a selection of images into it or vice versa, I am fully free to do so under fair use. Moreover, if the pic was taken by a federal employee or contractor, it is in the public domain unless they feel it merits classification (which they don’t, or they wouldn’t have published it.)
The commenter’s definition of “Fair Use” and “Satire” has always been my understanding. Government documents are considered in the “public domain,” and any suggestion otherwise is nothing short of intimidation. But this isn’t the first time the president has taken a shot at the First Amendment (pun intended).
Obviously, when you tell liberty-loving Americans they can’t do something they know they can … well, guess what? Just tell people they can’t do something, and they’re going to do a whole lot of it. Of course, this may be the intent of the Obama Administration. So, if we see conservative bloggers who’ve photoshopped the image under “Fair Use” getting hauled off by the feds, we’ll know why.
In the meantime, enjoy …
