David Patraeus’ admission to Congress today that he knew “almost immediately” the attacks on the consulate in Benghazi were terrorist acts are making many ask why UN Ambassador Susan Rice appeared on no less than five Sunday talk shows insisting an obscure video entitled “Innocence of Muslims” was the sole impetus for the murder of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya.
Well, I’ve wondered from the beginning if the Obama Administration is using the Benghazi fiasco as a “useful crisis” to promote adoption of the UN’s Blasphemy Law, which would outlaw criticism of Islam. Obama and ilk have shown no reverence for the First Amendment (see Chick-fil-a). That should be no real surprise coming from the party of political correctness.
Democrats are now trying to turn Susan Rice into a victim by claiming Republicans are unfairly attacking her. The fact is it appears it was Obama himself who picked Rice—a UN ambassador—and provided her the talking points which she dutifully disseminated to the major news networks.
Additionally, Obama claimed the war in Libya was justified according to a UN mandate, thereby bypassing Congress entirely. This is a gross violation of Article 1, Section 8, of the U.S. Constitution and the War Powers Act—an impeachable offense.
The bottomline is the Obama Administration is giving the United Nations de facto sovereignty over the United States and its Constitution. This plays nicely with Obama’s view of a fundamentally transformed trans-national America.
Remember, “never let a good crisis go to waste.”
